Paladin Pictures Film Wins Four Awards at International Festival

Charlottesville, Virginia – May 3, 2005 – Local media company Paladin Pictures and The Brothers Williamson received four awards for their feature film When Love Walks In at the Bare Bones International Independent Film Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Out of twenty-five feature motion pictures accepted into this year’s festival, the makers of When Love Walks In were recognized for Best Clean Flick, Best Actress, Best Soundtrack, and Best Festival Marketing.

“Winning the award was one of the highlights of my 30-year acting career,” Richmond actress Terri Moore explains. “It speaks so highly of this film that in today’s world, a nice family film has been honored, and I had the opportunity to act in a film without having to compromise my beliefs and morals.”

The family-friendly nature of When Love Walks In qualified the project for the “Best Clean Flick” category, an award that aims to recognize filmmakers for excellence in storytelling without the gratuitous use of violence, language, or nudity. Producer Kent C. Williamson comments, “As a company who strives to promote positive values and morals in our culture, we see the Best Clean Flick award as a great accomplishment. When Love Walks In targets an extensive audience that mainstream Hollywood tends to alienate, but the story is strong enough to appeal to a wide range of movie-goers.” Elements of loss, love, and eventual restoration have audiences comparing When Love Walks In to films like Bounce starring Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow and Sleepless in Seattle starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

The Best Soundtrack award for When Love Walks In is, in many ways, a tribute to Charlottesville’s local music scene. Virginia favorites such as Terri Allard and Carbon Leaf made multiple contributions from various albums, and University of Virginia composer Stephan Prock played a crucial role, composing nearly fifty pieces of original music for the film’s score.

Paladin Pictures To Show Film at Assisted Living Community

Charlottesville, Virginia – April 15, 2005 – Paladin Pictures and The Brothers Williamson will show their feature film When Love Walks In at the Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Community in Muskogee, OK on Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m. The movie screening will be the first of three scheduled in Muskogee for When Love Walks In, and the other showings will be associated with the Bare Bones International Independent Film Festival. When Love Walks In will lead the festival’s weekend line-up, playing immediately following the filmmaker’s welcome event on Thursday, April 21st at 8:00 p.m. at the Roxy Theatre, and will end the weekend as the final film shown in the Civic Center Cinema “Venue C” on Saturday, April 23rd at 10:15 p.m.

The Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Community may be considered an unexpected stop for a film company traveling from Charlottesville, Virginia. President of Paladin Pictures Kent C. Williamson explains, “This is an opportunity for us to bring part of the Bare Bones Film Festival to people who wouldn’t necessarily be able to attend on their own.  In the media industry, we sometimes have the mindset that people should wait on us hand and foot.  We see this as a good chance to serve someone else in a small way.”

The family-friendly When Love Walks In is expected to receive positive feedback from the Magnolia Gardens audience. Nominated for five awards at the Bare Bones Film Festival, the film tells the story of John Redgrave, a photographer who struggles to raise his three-year-old daughter after his wife’s untimely death.  Emotionally devastated, he attempts to pick-up the pieces of his shattered life with the help of his charming father and an unlikely new love interest. Elements of loss, love, and eventual restoration have pre-release audiences calling the film “a believable, tender love story” that is “touching and real.”  To purchase tickets to the BBIIFF movie screenings, visit www.barebonesfilmfestival.com.
