About Little Rhodie

Little Rhodie had been a vision of Dave Stipe’s since his college days at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. He envisioned a recording studio that was focused also on the development of an artist as well as creating high quality recordings.

He spent his time, after graduating with a degree in Commercial Music with a focus on Jazz Saxophone performance, slugging away in recording studios and theaters in Virginia and North Carolina. He was the head sound engineer at The Lost Colony in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. He was also working at Flat Five Press and Recording in Salem, VA. It all eventually lead him to Charlottesville, Virginia. Here, he was working at Crystalphonic Studios where he was really focusing his craft of recording and mixing. He was fortunate to work with such artists as Blue Merle, Corey Harris, Sparky’s Flaw, Schuyler Fisk, Robin and Linda Williams, Adelyn, John D’Earth and many more.

It wasn’t long before Little Rhodie Productions was heading to reality. The company started as a home studio just outside of Charlottesville. After a year and a half of laying the foundation, Little Rhodie Productions merged with Paladin Media Group, primarily a video production company. Paladin was dedicated in the creation of redemptive media. This resonated with Little Rhodie in wanting to work for a purpose, not just in booking studio time, but working to truly develop music. In May of 2008, Little Rhodie moved into the larger studio space with Paladin.

Under the Little Rhodie name, Dave has produced or worked on recordings with many artists such as Meiko, Dustin Brayley, The Sometime Favorites, The John Byrnes Trio, The Travis Elliott Band, Tim Be Told, Alex Mejias, Myspace Records, The Virginia Consort, NPR, and 106.1 The Corner.
